Introduction of Renmin University
Renmin University of China (RUC), located in the Zhongguancun high-tech area in Beijing, is a national key comprehensive institution that focuses mainly on humanities, social sciences, economics and managerial sciences, combined with disciplines of information science and environmental science. Founded in 1937, it has enrolled more than 170,000 students during its sixty-five years of history. At present, RUC is comprised of 25 colleges and graduate college. The institution offers 59 programs leading to the bachelor’s degree, 112 programs leading to the master's degree, and 74 to the doctorate degree. There are also 25 key national academic disciplines, 8 postdoctoral programs and 12 national key research centers in humanities and social sciences as well. The number of research centers of RUC ranks first among the national higher learning institutions in China.
RUC is one of the key educational institutions that has accepted international students to China since 1949 and accepts numerous China scholarship students every year.. Till now there are more than 4,000 foreign students from nearly 100 countries having graduated from RUC. Among those students, 52 were Ph.D. students, 177 were Master's degree students and 377 were bachelor's degree students. Presently, there are over 1000 students from 62 different countries studying in RUC.
Foreign students' enrollments are accepted in various courses and degree programs: Doctoral degree students, Master’s degree students, Bachelor’s degree students, senior scholars, general scholars, research scholars and language students.

Bachelor’s degree: High-school graduate or above. Pass level 6 of HSK Test and the RUC entrance exams. Master's degree: Bachelor’s degree with honors. 2 or more letters of recommendation by associate professors. Applicants are also required to pass the RUC entrance exams. Doctorate degree: Master’s degree. 2 or more letters of recommendation by professors. Applicants are also required to pass the RUC entrance exams. Language Student High-school graduate or above. Preparatory course High-school graduate or above, pass level 4 of HSK test. General Scholar At least 2 years of undergraduate studies in the field to be studied in China, or a related field. Senior Scholar Applicants are required to hold a degree equivalent to a Chinese master’s degree. They will pursue studies on a certain subject under the direction of a Chinese advisor. Research Scholar Associate professor or above in university. |
