The Netherlands Alumni Network in China

Netherlands Alumni Network in China (NANC) is a non for profit organization for and by all alumni of Chinese, Dutch or other nationalities who studied or engaged in academic research in the Netherlands and now live in China. It is set up with the support of Netherlands Education Support Office China (Nuffic Neso China) which functions as the NANC’s secretariat and is funded by 32 Dutch universities and higher education institutions. The network aims to serve as a platform to provide the means and opportunities for its members and partners to improve their communication and empowerment and to promote their social and professional interests, and thereby ultimately improve Sino-Dutch relations.
Operating on a non-profit and partnership basis, NANC is funded by contribution from Dutch higher education institutions and business communities and companies. NANC not only acts as a platform to improve the communication between alumni and their host institutions but also serves as a matchmaker to facilitate the business communities for talent scouting and recruitment among the highly trained alumni. Since its establishment in February 2005, already more than 2500 alumni have already registered as NANC members representing 50 higher institutions in the Netherlands.
With the continuous development and enhancement of NANC in past three years, it is increasingly recognized by universities, students, governments and other (educational) organizations that alumni are the important “image ambassador” and play a very positive role in the promotion of education institutions and higher education programs. The establishment of this network increases the opportunities of alumni to contribute Sino-Dutch relations in general and to their educational or expertise-related areas in particular.
Activities & Services
Since the establishment of the NANC, it organized or was involved in over 80 events /activities for Dutch universities/institutions and alumni in China for personal, social, professional and academic purposes from general receptions, social networking events to business guest lectures. NANC often receives contribution and supports from alumni as well as local business communities.
